I love seeing and hearing the sound of partrdiges as it reminds me blissful days roaming Exmoor near my childhood home.

Partridges are fantastic at keeping themselves hidden on the ground, but then suddenly explode in the air to startle any creature (or human) nearby!  They are synonymous with the joyful time of Christmas and can therefore make us feel festive and joyful.

I felt inspired to paint Porter the red legged partridge to take me back to the feeling of being in the countryside and the excitement of experiencing the beauty and joy of nature.
